16-week cognitive-behavioral program to treat panic attacks

Meet Linda Berlin, Psy.D. R.N.

Linda Berlin, Psy.D., R.N. has been practicing in the Coral Springs/Boca Raton, Florida area for 35 years. Dr. Berlin began her career at Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan as a nursing student.

While in nursing school she spent three months doing a psychiatric rotation at Central Islip State Hospital where her lifelong interest in mental health began. After graduation, she worked at Long Island Jewish Hospital and Flower Fifth Avenue hospitals as a Medical/Surgical nurse.

It was not long, however, that her strong interest in psychiatry and psychology motivated her to pursue a specialization as a psychiatric nurse at Hillside Hospital in  Glen Oaks, N.Y. Dr. Berlin continued her nursing career whenever possible while marrying and raising her two sons. Throughout those years, Dr. Berlin led a weekly parenting workshop based on the philosophies of Dr. Haim Ginott, Ph.D., a renowned Child Psychologist. While working with her parents, she became interested in returning to school to achieve a doctorate in psychology. As her children grew, her wish became a reality when she enrolled in Nova Southeastern University where she was awarded, with distinction, a Bachelor of Science in Community Psychology, a Masters in Psychology, and a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology.

After graduation, she was invited to join the faculty at Nova Southern University as an Adjunct Professor. She remained at NSU for 15 years where she taught various courses in Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Personality, Child and Adolescent Development, General Psychology and Interpersonal Communications.

Concurrently, Dr. Berlin was also building her private practice. In 1989, Dr. Berlin became interested in a cognitive-behavioral program developed by David Barlow, Ph.D. for the treatment of Anxiety and Panic Disorders. She has devoted an extensive portion of her practice to the treatment of individuals suffering from panic attacks, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorders.

In 1998, Dr. Berlin founded Linda Berlin, Psy.D. and Psychological Associates. Where she treated adults and adolescents. In addition to her work with anxiety disorders, remaining rooted in her nursing background, Dr. Berlin has a special interest in Health Psychology, treating individuals coping with various health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic pain.

In 2021, after 23 years, Dr. Berlin sold her practice and is now practicing as a solo practitioner using a telehealth-only platform.
